DNV GL is the world’s largest classification agency for shipping and offshore system, as well as being a leading technical consultant for the oil and gas industry and an expert in all issues relating to energy. The organisation was created from several companies in different countries.
“Judging from the interim website Incentro created for us, I have every confidence that they will do a fantastic job with the final website as well.” Anders Øvreberg, Web Operations Manager DNV GL
mergers between kema, dnv and gl
Incentro has been working with KEMA for some time, to the satisfaction of both partners. KEMA merged with the Norwegian company DNV in 2011, which then went on to merge with German-based GL in 2012. The mergers were followed by a rebranding process, which naturally included the website as well. In summer 2013, DNV GL invited several organisation to submit proposals to create an interim website. Incentro was one of the companies invited, and its proposal ended up being selected.
incentro: sdl tridion specialist
Anders Øvreberg, DNV’s Web Operations Manager explains his company’s choice of Incentro: “During the years that Incentro worked for KEMA, they implemented the web content management system SDL Tridion. They have a great deal of specialised knowledge in this area, and have always provided us with superior services. During the pitch process for the DNV GL interim website, Incentro demonstrated that they could provide good quality at a competitive price. Price is definitely an important factor, and it was one of the reasons we decided to go with Incentro.”
“Tridion is perfect for managing the online environment of a global organisation such as DNV GL, and it’s a great experience having the opportunity to manage such a major project.” Pascal Schipperheyn, manager of Incentro Rotterdam and barbecue chef
creating an interim website
Developing a solid interim website was essential, as the organisation, following the various mergers, was left with a variety of websites.
“All websites needed to be integrated in order to be able to present DNV GL as a single, consistent brand to the outside world, and we wanted to continue using SDL Tridion as our web content management system”, Øvreberg explains.
KEMA was already using this system at the time, and it produced better results than the method DNV used for a long time.”
versatile web content management system
Pascal Schipperheyn, Manager at Incentro Rotterdam: “Tridion is perfect for managing the online environment of a global organisation such as DNV GL, as it’s a tool designed for international companies. The content management system can be used across a variety of channels and languages, and that’s essential for a global organisation.”
using scrum to work in a variety of locations
Despite being located in different countries, DNV GL and Incentro have been able to work together smoothly, with frequent contact between DNV GL’s Oslo headquarters and Incentro’s Rotterdam office. Øvreberg: “We have video conferences every day, and some members of the team meet at the Oslo office every three weeks.” The project is based on the Scrum method. The interim website is currently online and can be accessed at dnvgl.com. Schipperheyn: “Our people are currently in the process of creating the actual website, and for this long-term solution, we are also using the Scrum method, as before. This gives us the option to change course if needed.”
the result: an interim website and confidence in the future
The first sprint (i.e. iteration, or basic unit of development) has now been completed and the project is right on track. Øvreberg is excited about the results: “Judging from the interim website Incentro created for us, I have every confidence that they will do a fantastic job with the final website as well.”
