Incentro wants to contribute to a sustainable society. To be effective, Incentro has chosen a focus-based approach. Focus on initiatives that are in line with Incentro’s vision and culture. Incentro’s sustainability initiatives are based on two pillars:

  • Minimizing the ecological footprint
  • Solving socioeconomic inequality

Minimizing the ecological footprint

Being a consultancy organization, Incentro has a large number of employees working at changing locations in the Netherlands. Because of its organizational structure with locally oriented establishments, travel times are minimized. Employees work for an establishment that serves clients in that neighborhood based on their residence. Besides this, Incentro offers employees a mobility package including an NS Business Card. It also includes an incentive scheme to choose company cars with reduced CO2 emissions. When it comes to purchasing, sustainability is taken into account as much as possible. There have especially been many applications around events organized by Incentro. For more information, feel free to contact Paul Baan.

Solving socioeconomic inequality

Sustainability is often translated into environment. Environment surely is an important point of interest (see above). However, recent international developments show that structural inequality can be just as threatening to the sustainability of society. In our current system (both national and international) the existing gap between rich and poor seems to become more extreme. This leads to a high degree of instability. Incentro wants to contribute to a more balanced distribution of wealth. Incentro’s vision concerning trust, entrepreneurship and autonomy prevail in this. On a local level (the Netherlands) Incentro is therefore “Official IT partner of the Youth Sports Fund”. The Youth Sports Fund believes in development through sport. That is why it offers children whose families normally could not afford this (contribution, sportswear etc.) the possibility to play sports. The Youth Sports Fund used existing social structures to get these sports facilities to the relevant target group. It is a strong concept that works. Incentro happily contributes to this. On an international level, Incentro wants to stimulate entrepreneurship in order to make poorer parts of the world more prosperous. At the same time, Incentro does not believe in dependence. Incentro’s international focus is therefore on providing microcredit to entrepreneurs in developing countries. To achieve this, Incentro used the services of Kiva. Kiva has a worldwide structure with local partners who help entrepreneurs on site with executing their plans and paying back the loans. The Incentro loaning team is among the world’s best, see our team page (www.kiva.org/team/incentro) for more information.

History

Incentro sometimes makes an exception on the strong focus mentioned above and an additional initiative is temporarily embraced. Developing the SCORE website is an example of this, just like developing the Online football school for professional football club AZ. Both initiatives were in line with the activities of the Youth Sports Fund. Offering opportunities to less wealthy children to increase their chances in society through sport.
